If you have ever seen the movie ‘Somewhere in Time’, this hotel looks like back to the 70s in the movie. It’s a movie in 1972 which I haven’t born yet. This is one of the timeless and the best romantic movie I had ever seen. So backdate from my last year end trip in Hokkaido – Sapporo. It was quite rush and we only have 1 day to stay in Sapporo. The weather is pretty bad and it even delayed our schedule. Hopefully I can stay longer next time. Lucky enough we picked the hotel which is the closest to Shinkansen, it takes only approximately 10 mins walkable distance.
Heavy snow and super cold outside when we arrived. It’s very challenging when you need to carry a luggage even in such a 10 mins walkable distance. It finally took us 20 mins to arrive. It was almost Christmas when we were there, thus a beautiful classic Christmas tree was being decorated next to the fireplace in the lobby. How lovely to feel the Christmas vibes even indoor!
In the other corner there’s a ceremony place for event or wedding. It just looks like an indoor secret garden.
In the Room
Once finished checked in, we were lead to take the vintage elevator up to our floor. Staff can speak simple English and they were so nice to answer any questions I had. One of the reason I love this hotel is the vintage decorations every corner in the hotel. Even the elevator is not something that I has experience in nowadays. Instead of the digital no. showed in the screen, it has a strip with no. on top showing where you are. I can feel I’m back to the 70s.
The alley along the room is a bit dark and moody however with the combination of the royal blue carpet, it somehow create a perfect vintage scenery.
The room is not a big but in Japan I think this size is big enough. There’s a wardrobe, hairdryer and free wifi etc. I can even flat lay my luggage so I think that’s quite nice compare to the rest of the hotel in Japan. I read some of the reviews said that it is a bit scary. Of course if you are not a vintage lover you might find a bit uncomfortable with lots vintage wallpaper, cabinet etc around. However to me, it looks really unique. The bed is the classic European style and it is very soft. The door of the washroom with curtain is exactly what I had seen in the movie.
One thing in my priority when I booked a hotel is the bath tube. They do have a bath tube with some necessities you need, such as shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. It has everything you can ask for.
The price is not really pricey but affordable. In such a convenient location, with mall and restaurant around. Also with such uniquess decoration that you might only seen in the movie, I think it worth for the price. They also offer traditional Japanese room if you have more than 3 persons. I definitely will be back if I go to Sapporo again! As it was the most pleasant hotel I have stayed in Hokkaido.
How to get there?

I love how Japanese does retro. It’s like a Meiji time thing, Western and Japanese touch. Interesting find 😍
