I went to Bangkok last month and visited the new hippest space with artistic café, market and playground – The Commons. A place where you can get closer to the nature but not too far from the city. They also call it as the backyard of Thonglor. Located in Soi Thonglor 17. The earliest opening is 08:00 a.m however not all café / restaurant were fully open that early, so I would highly suggest not to go to early unless you want to have an early breakfast.
The commons has been divided into 4 zones.
Offers Quality food and drinks
Offers Sweets & Life simple treats
Welcome everyone regardless of age, it’s a good to enjoy your time with Kids.
you can enroll their workshops with your friends and family.
The backyard of the Commons. Enrich yourself with comforting food from
the Commons Kitchen Bar and the Roast
Something surprise was that they also happy for customers to bring their pet along with them! which is something not easy to find in the city.
The plant house is just located at the back of the pillar. I would call them the Little Yellow House. They offers unique seasonal flowers and home décor. Aside from the magic of flowers, you can also find gifting items which you can pick for your beloved ones. Such as Note books, postcards and phone cases with unique design and prints.
The little yellow house is not Big however it offers you an instant refreshment. I’m so addicted to the design from exterior to interior. Every corner was so beautiful. Guess that’s what they called the Magic of nature.
There’s also a little Green van made by cloth. It’s a good idea to pose and take a good shot!
As mentioned above, there are different zones located in different levels. They also offers parking lot for those who need.
On the 3/f, the green yard just appear once you stepped out. It is the backyard of the Commons under the full open ceiling. You can feel the sunshine, breath deeply and feel the magic of nature.
Grow this community Together! Plant a Herb, Learn, Enrich Yourself which is the slogan of the Commons.
When you pass through the yard, you will see The Roast – a lifestyle restaurant which offers the high quality food with freshest ingredients. Actually there are branches in other location rather than the Commons. It’s a quite popular chain café in Bangkok. The interior design is more than simple but elegance.
You can start up your morning with their in house coffee. I ordered egg benedict with cappuccino, it was really good! It served with croissant and eggs with ham on top. Alternatively, you can have a choice of salmon.
I was there at 10:00 a.m and surprised there are already lots of people in the restaurant.
A little yard which offers you a chance to gather with your kids and friends. If you are interested with their workshop, they offers class such as leather workshop, art of making perfect pancakes or you can even get a workout from their hip hop lessons!
If you want to be more closer to the nature, there’s also a class teach you how to plant some herbs. Therefore it’s such a big variety!

Kids Common and Enginou
Apart from these, there are also a store which offers Kids educational products – Enginou. I picked some DIY paper house for my friends! Also you can enjoy the signature waffles in Jona Waffle. They served real maple syrup, lemon butter, and fresh strawberry. I don’t have a chance to try as it’s too early when I was there. So if you have time you can go and try!
I found a very cute little squirrel tap in a little corner!! See if you can find this too! ^-^
How to get there?
You can choose to take a taxi and go directly to there, alternatively, a more economy way is to take BTS to the closest station Thonglor, exit Soi Sukhumvit 55 (a mango store is just on the right of the exit) and jump on a taxi, it’s just a way straight through. It takes about 10 minutes. So you can save some money for a cup of coffee!

The Taste Thonglor
If you have time, there’s another new opened food mall – The Taste Thonglor. It’s just located in front of a few blocks. There are 12 restaurants in the Mall with different style food to experience. Not sure if it’s good as I haven’t try yet but is worth to take a look if you are that close!
